Enrichment Fridays at The Meraki School

A special offering for homeschool students in the community!

Join us for a Friday of STEM, art, music, and connection! The Meraki School is opening its doors to local homeschool students for a unique enrichment experience designed to spark imagination, develop foundational skills, and build friendships.

STEM, Art & Music Enrichment

Each week, students will participate in a high-level STEM lesson, an engaging art piece, and a joyful music class taught by our talented art teacher, Art with Heidi, and incredible music teacher, Mrs. Acerra. Lessons are hands-on, rigorous, and thoughtfully designed for K–5 learners. We believe that when students learn the vocabulary of science, art, and music, explore the work of great artists, and have space to unlock their own creativity, they develop a lasting appreciation and love for science and the arts.

STEM at The Meraki School:

Enrichment Fridays will include an engaging, hands-on STEM lesson designed for K–5 homeschool students. Each session is carefully crafted to spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and encourage students to explore the world through science, technology, engineering, and math.

Our STEM classes are:

  • Hands-on – Students build, experiment, test, and reflect.
  • Explorative – We lead with inquiry and discovery, encouraging students to ask questions and find creative solutions.
  • Thematic – Each session is built around a real-world theme, helping students connect what they’re learning to the world around them.
  • Rigorous – We introduce meaningful concepts and academic vocabulary in an age-appropriate, challenging, and supportive environment.

Whether they’re studying weather patterns, experimenting with circuits, solving engineering challenges, or exploring light and sound, students are actively learning through collaboration, trial-and-error, and discovery.

Art at The Meraki School:

In our art lessons, we explore the Elements of Artline, shape, form, space, value, texture, and color. These are the foundational tools for creative expression. These elements help students not only create art, but also observe and interpret the world around them.

Through art, students:

  • Practice mindfulness and activate their senses
  • Apply critical thinking and emotional intelligence
  • Compose and construct with inspiration and purpose

Students also learn technical skills like drawing, painting, and color mixing while being introduced to masterpieces, art history, and great artists of the past, helping to build both creative ability and aesthetic judgment.

Music at The Meraki School:

Our music program builds a strong foundation in theory, rhythm, and melody through joyful, interactive lessons.

Students will:

  • Learn to read basic music notation
  • Practice ear training through singing, clapping, and playing instruments
  • Explore different musical genres, instruments, and the stories behind them
  • Study influential composers and how music expresses culture, emotion, and ideas

Music at Meraki encourages curiosity, creativity, and appreciation helping students connect deeply with music and carry that joy beyond the classroom.
